Name: Amy
Age: 12
Job/Occupation: Homeless Network
Appearance: Amy is rather tall for her age, considering her situation, but she is average compared to other children. She has brown curly hair and dark brown eyes. She generally wears old clothing, which have generally been brought a few sizes too large for her, as she has no idea when she’ll next have enough money for extra clothes. Often, she is dirty, but sometimes when she’s luck she’ll be able to find a public shower and have a wash and clean her clothing.
Generally, no one notices Amy, she just appears to blend into the background, as people skim over things that are always there. This helps with her work in the Homeless Network and she generally covers areas such as parks, where children are far more likely to be and you may have the odd shady character lurking around. She has a few scars from fights with other children, but she mainly keeps them hidden. At first appearance, Amy does seem to be shy, especially among adults, but she can be rather bold.
Personality: Amy is often a shy character, especially among most adults, as she does not have a happy history with them. However, her experiences have made her a bold character, and she is not afraid of pickpocketing someone to get some money or fighting other kids to get some food. Amy is also not afraid of many things, she generally will follow someone who looks like they might be a murder to see if she can gain some more knowledge to pass onto other members of the Homeless Network to give to Sherlock, or for her to pass on, herself.
History: Amy was born to parents who had been living on the streets for all of their lives. Her father was often angry, due to the fact that he had a short temper. Amy and her mother were often beaten, but her father was the best source of income because he had some form of education and every now and again, managed to keep a job for a few weeks before losing his temper and getting fired. Due to her father’s temper, they also had to move around London a lot to avoid old enemies of his, who wanted to get even. It was this frequent moving and anger that caused Amy to lose her baby brother.
It wasn’t long until her mother was killed by Amy’s father and it was at that point, aged eight that Amy left, to try and survive by herself, instead of facing what would probably lead to death. However, Amy started to struggle, at which point an old man took her in. He was also poor, but he knew how to get money. He worked in the Homeless Network and also pickpocketed people. Through this, he managed to support her as well as himself. He also taught her the trade and Amy too joined the Homeless Network. She also found a love of stories. The old man had gone to school and knew how to read. He owned a few books and taught her, Amy’s favourite is Lord of the Rings and she had her own copy.
When Sherlock ‘died’, Amy had to rely more heavily on pickpocketing to get money for food, although she did still look out for people who would commit crimes or look like the might do that, simply out of habit. She enjoyed being helpful and has wondered whether she could work with the police, like Sherlock. However, Amy never has followed that interest, or even made contact with the police or any social workers to attempt to get an education. When Sherlock returned, she was delighted that there would be an easier source of money if she kept her eyes and ears open.
Anything else: I also play Sherlock
RP Sample: Amy shuddered as she sat under the tree, in the only place that had been sheltered from the snow fall that had carpeted London. Almost everywhere was frozen and while she could go back to the tunnels where everyone slept, she didn’t. She needed to keep her eyes and ears open to try and get some more food. It had been days since she had eaten and she wanted something to fill her stomach. Maybe I should go inside one of the museums to look for someone interesting. It’s warm and free. She thought as she hugged her legs tightly. It was more likely that a criminal would be outside. Or even more likely, inside and working on some plan in the warmth. Folding her arms up, Amy gave a sigh and stared out across the snowy world.
