OC
Name: Josh Carlson
Age: 13
Job/Occupation: Student
Appearance: Josh has brown hair and brown eyes. His skin is pale and he has no spots or freckles. He wears jeans, t-shirts and sneakers, and has only worn a suit on one occasion, and that was the most embarrassing moment of his life, so he doesn't like thinking about it. He always has a backpack, and either inside or strapped on the back there is a skateboard, which he always rides.
Personality: Josh is brave, intelligent and loyal. He has a daring streak to him which often shows. He's protective of his friends, but those are few as people often think he's weird because he's considerate and thoughtful. He isn't shy, but he isn't smart-mouthed and he doesn't tease people. Josh is also confident, and optimistic most of the time, but he can be doubtful and lose faith in things.
History: Josh was born in Kent 13 years ago, and from a very young age knew that his family was strange. His father was a science geek and kept doing experiments, and they had to keep moving house as he kept blowing it up, Josh remembers. Josh's mother was a seamstress, and was always making daft things for the house, unneeded curtains and rugs. Josh's sister Mary, born a year after him, remembers according to what she said that too. Josh and Mary had always longed for a normal life. When Josh went to school, he was teased about his family, about himself. On the other hand, Mary wasn't teased but she had no friends either. She and Josh sat together at lunch, talked together at break. However, one day, when Josh was 10 and Mary was 9, things changed.
They went home to see their house was wrecked. They knew immediately what must have happened; their father must have blown it up again. But their parents were nowhere to be seen. They later learned that their father's experiment had caused a fire. Neither he nor their mother had survived. Josh and Mary were taken into care, but were soon adopted by a nice couple, Jill and John. They were nice people, and they lived in London. Even now, Mary and Josh still live with them, building a new life. Josh still gets teased at school, but Mary is very popular. So Josh feels lonely and pushed aside. A few months ago, he was involved in a crime, sort of. He was skateboarding down the street when somebody crashed into him. The police had apparently been chasing him and when he and Josh collided, the police got him and arrested him. Josh was thanked, but after that everything went back to normal, which made Josh at first a bit scared because perhaps that guy would break out of prison to get him..and then he wondered if he could make a difference. And he's still thinking about that.
Anything else: None.
RP Sample: Josh sighed as he skateboarded down the street, expertly swerving round people. He was remembering, though concentrating at the same time, about that scary day when he and Mary had returned to their house to find it blown up. Josh snapped out of his daydream just in time to swerve round a man and his dog. Josh looked around him and stopped his skateboard, pulling his backpack round to put his skateboard in. He looked into a park he had stopped by and froze. It was a family; a dad, a mum, a little boy and a girl in a pram. The boy must have been four, the girl two or three. Josh's heart seemed to freeze before he ran away from the park. He didn't like to admit it, but it was because it hurt him to think that he couldn't really ever have a life like that.
